JULY 2025

From the Pastor’s Message:

July greets us in the season of Ordinary Time — the “green” liturgical season — a time of spiritual growth and development. Throughout this season, we focus on the teachings, parables, miracles, and ministry of Jesus, as we consider what it means to live out our Christian faith in the world. This month at the Lutheran Church of Arcata, we will hear accounts from Luke’s Gospel, as Jesus sends out messengers, tells the story of the Good Samaritan, visits Mary and Martha, and teaches his followers about prayer.

These texts remind us that Christian discipleship doesn’t have to be flashy. It can simply look like compassion given to those in need. It can look like pausing to tune into God’s presence even when the to-do list is a mile long. And it can look like turning to God in prayer for all things. These are not grand performances. They are simple acts of love and faithfulness in the midst of our busy lives. But Jesus teaches us that it’s in these very moments that the Spirit is moving, and God’s grace is at work.

Join us at the Lutheran Church of Arcata as we explore the Good News of Jesus Christ together, and what his transformational way means for our lives.

Peace be with you!
Pastor Taylor
